Evening out to Holme Pierrpont Hall
Tuesday August 13th 2013

On Tuesday August 13th 20 members enjoyed our Annual outing, this time not too far afield as we visited Holme Pierrepont Hall. We were welcomed by Robert Brackenbury who took us first to the church where he explained the history of the Pierrepont family and showed us 2 excellent monuments in the church, one of a knight from the time of Richard 111, believed to be one of the best in the country and a monument to the family.

We then looked at interesting features on the outside of the house, followed by a tour of some of the interior rooms. It was a most interesting tour of a lovely house in beautiful parkland especially as we were blessed with a beautiful evening. After tea and biscuits we were able to explore the lovely courtyard garden and lawns. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and it is good to be reminded of interesting places on our doorstep.
